PUZZLE MANIA
Sunday, February 10th 2pm
Sponsored by the Endowment Committee

For a brand new challenge sponsored by the Endowment Committee, assemble your crack team of puzzlers and join us on February 10th from 2 pm to 5 pm and complete a puzzle in record time.  Challenges will include the oven mitt handicap, buy a piece (but it may not be one you need), and other fun obstacles.  Admission is $25 per person, teams of four are encouraged with no age limit, includes puzzle and light refreshments.  Prizes will include bragging rights.  Please call the Club office to register your team.

WINE AND CHEESE TASTING

Come join us for a tasting of various wines and cheeses. We are asking members to bring their favorite hors d'oeuvres to share and their desire to enjoy themselves and have fun!  We’re looking forward to a good time with friends, old and new.


THEATER TRIP – JERSEY BOYS

Join us for a trip to Hershey Theater to enjoy a Broadway production of the hit ‘Jersey Boys’.  We will leave in the morning and enjoy lunch at the Hershey Hotel before going to the matinee.

Please check your closets, dresser drawers, and basements as we need all your gently used jewelry, clothing, dishes, household items, and small furniture for our Bargain Sale.  It takes many people to make this fundraiser a success, so please plan to help set up and price the items during the week before the sale.  Please call a chairperson to volunteer to help set up during the week, to help during the sale, or to have donated items picked up.  Women’s Club members may shop at the Members Only (sorry no guests) Sale on Thursday, March 21st from 5 – 7 pm.  Lunch will be served on Friday and Saturday.


CELL PHONES FOR DUMMIES SEMINAR

Our presenter will show us how to get e-mail, take photos, text, and use apps like Google, maps, online shopping and more!  Bring your friends, bring your phone.  Program will be from 5 – 6 pm and is free, but please call the Club to reserve your spot.


GARDEN CLUB’S SPRING FLING FLORAL DESIGN DEMONSTRATION

Kelly Shores will demonstrate floral creations which will be available for raffle and sale. Other highlights include a wine pairing experience, a garden boutique, and several spring basket raffles. A variety of wines will be available for purchase by the glass. Kelly Shores, lead designer and owner of Petals by the Shore, is a well-known wedding designer with a wide network among venues, caterers, planners, and photographers in the DC, Maryland, and the Northern Virginia area.  She has served as lead floral designer for the First Lady’s Luncheon and has been featured in both national and local magazines and blogs.

SPRING BENEFIT CARD PARTY AND KOREAN COOKING DEMONSTRATION

Join us Wednesday, April 10th at the Club for the Spring Benefit Card Party.  This year we have a special treat: Grace Bennett will present a Korean Cooking Demonstration, and share tastings of her dishes as part of our lunch!  Gather for cards (or table games of your choice) and enjoy a taste of Korean cuisine!  The $25 reservation fee goes to the Scholarship Fund which awards education scholarships to non-traditional women striving to overcome a personal life-altering challenge.  Please mark your calendar and bring your friends out for a delicious lunch and an afternoon of fun while supporting a worthy cause.  For reservations call Cindy McKoin or the Club office.

CHILDREN’S TEA

Journey to Medieval England and become gallant knights and beautiful ladies at our Children’s Tea.  This will be a special tea party with fruit, sandwiches, cookies, and scones.  There will be activities for the children all based around the ‘the days of yore”.  Dress your children in their Sunday best for the Maypole Dance and to celebrate spring. Flowers will abound and smiles will be all around.  It will be an enchanting afternoon for both children and their accompanying adults.

Join us for our 3rd Annual Preakness Party!  Sport your Preakness hat for judging, drink a Black-Eyed Susan and enjoy Maryland-themed gourmet food while you play the ponies!

 

HOUSE AND GARDEN TOUR
Saturday, June 15th - 10 am – 4 pm

Our 11th House & Garden Tour on June 15, 2019 will feature tours of  historical or significant homes and gardens in Washington County.  This event is open to the public and is a HUGE fund-raiser for our Club.  We’ve already started the planning and are recruiting volunteers to work during this event. It will take a concentrated team effort to do this tour in our typical “Club Fashion”, so if you’d like to help please contact Carol Brashears, 301-992-5016/ brash115@aol.com to join the crew.  This should be a fun event for everybody!
