The Women’s Club is happy to offer the following Special Events for 2016 -2017. Some of these special events require reservations and an admission cost.


SERRV SERVICE PROJECT
Thursday, March 9 - 8 am to 4 pm
Chairpersons: Joan Schupp, Sharon Barnhart

Volunteer Locally, Give Globally! Join us for a day of service in New Windsor, MD, at SERRV, a non-profit organization that receives fair-trade crafts and foods from around the world to be sold here in the US. Besides unpacking and sorting these items, we will enjoy a delicious lunch and time to shop in their store. We will meet and carpool to the location. A good time for a good cause!


BRIDAL SHOW, MOCK WEDDING, AND RECEPTION
Sunday, March 19, 1 pm Snow date: Sunday, March 26

“Here comes the bride….” We are collaborating with Potomac Bridals of Hagerstown in offering a bridal show, mock wedding and reception for future bridal parties at a local church. Vendors will then provide a reception at the Women’s Club. More information, including costs, will be forth coming in our newsletters. Brides, please register your party at 301.739.0870



WINE AND CHEESE TASTING
Friday, March 31 6 to 9 pm
Chairpersons: Barb Schwab, Melissa Williams

Join us for a tasting of various wines and cheeses. We are asking members to bring their favorite hors d'oeuvres to share and their desire to enjoy themselves and have fun! We’re looking forward to a good time with friends, old and new.



SPRING BENEFIT CARD PARTY
Wednesday, April 12 12 noon
Chairperson: Endowment Committee

The Women’s Club will be hosting a Spring Benefit Card Party and Lunch with all profits going to the Women’s Club Endowment. Mark your calendar and bring your friends for a delicious lunch and an afternoon of cards while supporting a worthy cause. For reservations, call the Club office.

SPRING BARGAIN SALE
Thursday, April 20 – MEMBERS ONLY SHOPPING 5 to 7 pm Friday, April 21 9 am to 1 pm Saturday, April 22 9 am to 12 noon Chairpersons: Donna Faith, Suzie Gozora, Donna Wells

Check your closets, dresser drawers, and basements. We need your gently used jewelry, clothing, dishes, household items, and small furniture. It takes many people to make this fundraiser a success so plan to help set up and price the items during the week before the sale. Call a chairperson to volunteer to help set up during the week, to help during the sale, or to have donated items picked up. This year an opportunity for Women’s Club members to shop before the sale begins. Members only (sorry no guests) may shop on Thursday, September 29 from 5 – 7 pm.



FASHION SHOW

Enjoy an evening with your friends as you see models of all ages, including children, wearing the latest spring fashions from local shops. We will also provide wine and appetizers for your enjoyment. More information will be available in future newsletters.



CHILDREN’S TEA
Sunday, April 30 2 to 4 pm
Chairpersons: Carol Brashears, Mary Kalin

Join us as we journey to England to visit Peter Rabbit at our Children’s Tea. This will be a special tea party with fruit, sandwiches, cookies, and scones. There will be activities for the children all based around the delightful tales of Peter Rabbit. Dress your children in their Sunday best for the Maypole Dance and to celebrate spring. Flowers will abound and smiles will be all around. It will be an enchanting afternoon for both children and their accompanying adults.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING AND BRUNCH
Saturday, May 6 Meeting: 10 am
Brunch: 11 am
Chairperson: Carol Brashears

Final reports of all committees, activities, and Ways and Means will be shared. Six new (or returning) board members will be elected. Officers for the Board of Directors will be chosen and a brunch will follow.

PREAKNESS PARTY
Saturday, May 20 5 to 8 pm
Chairpersons: Georgia Reeser, Donna Fuss, Sondra Crumbacker

Join us for the first ever Women's Club Preakness Party. Wear your most elaborate hat for the judging, drink Black Eye Susans, and enjoy gourmet food....Place your bets!

 

A MID-SUMMER DAY ALL-WEATHER PICNIC
Saturday, July 29 - 12 noon
Chairpersons: Lois Kaufman, Melissa Williams

Join us, rain or shine, for good food and a good time in the Women's Club auditorium. Meet Friends - Greet Friends - Make Friends!   Enjoy games, 50/50, raffles, music, and take-home favors.  Attire is picnic chic.  Reservations required by Monday, July 17 to the Club office.   Prices and details will be in future newsletters.  PLEASE SAVE THE DATE for this 2017 summer event!
